Harambee  is expanding! We will be providing 2 trips this winter and rolling the project out to multiple campuses.

Kenya 2010: Harambee will be kicking off our agricultural program in kenya with irrigation improvements and the introduction of Yo’Manzi water technology to the Mbitini community- Preserving water, increasing crop yields! With the new system in place, we will be creating community vegetable gardens in each sector of the village. Finally we will be replicating our town hall meeting for HIV/AIDS education and empowerment.

South Africa 2010: Harambee will be landing in the Western Cape township of Kayelitsha where we will be constructing communal grow zones that will provide food for local housing projects caring for children orphaned and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. Check back with us frequently as more information is unveiled.

Fufua Bus Tour postponed: Due to current financial restraints in this economically difficult time, our bus tour has been put on hold until further notice. Please check back periodically for our rescheduled dates!

Fufua Bus Tour “awaken with words”
Fufua is the Swahili word for “awaken,” and through this project we will awaken people from all over the world who are suffering in silence from HIV/AIDS to tell their stories to communities in the United States. We will use town hall meetings and recordable media to strengthen and encourage all people suffering from HIV/AIDS to overcome the social stigmas and prejudices that surround them everyday and we will create ever widening ripples of tolerance and hope. Our bus will also serve as a testing site where locals attending the town hall meetings will have the opportunity to undergo HIV oraquick testing. Each test will be followed by a personal counceling session and distribution of local resource information.

We will travel through Kenya and Tanzania to speak about HIV/AIDS and listen to members of the Mbitini, Samama, Amboseli, Kitui, and Moshi villages.

Now that the clinic is built we will be furnishing it, stocking it, staffing it, and opening its doors to the children of Emanuel and the village of Mbitini.
We are also planning on improving the compound’s well systems in order to increase water availability.
Finally we plan on beginning our agricultural program with the installment of a drip system.
